A Tribute

In Loving Memory

Stephen Patrick Driscoll

Hi, I would like to introduce myself, I am Gail Silke, sister of Emergency Service Unit Police Officer Stephen P. Driscoll, who was tragically killed in the World Trade Center Attack on September 11, 2001, a day we will never forget.

A little about Stephen, the “Awesome Man”; Born in the Bronx, New York on the 4th of July 1963 to Patrick and Letitia Driscoll. He was the oldest of 6 children. Four girls followed him then the baby, Michael. There were 10 years between Stephen and Michael. As kids when Stephen’s birthday came, he always thought the fireworks were for him, It was great. He did believe in Santa Claus too! * though I can’t tell you the age he stopped believing.

We all attended Catholic grammar and high schools. With Stephen being a year older than me, everyone knew he would show us the way. He certainly did. One funny story * when Stephen was in 7th grade and preparing to make his Confirmation, he flipped a note to his friend and it was intercepted by yes, a nun. The note mentioned her being and resembled a female dog * so he claimed he hadn’t written the note in those words. Well needless to say, Stephen made his Confirmation with me a year later * that taught him and all the rest of us * not to mess with the Holy Sisters.
